AFCAT written exam is a gateway for both male and female aspirants who wish to join the Indian Air Force for Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and in Ground Duties for both Technical and Non-Technical roles. Indian Air force describes the afcat eligibility criteria which include afcat qualification, age limit, physical fitness, etc in afcat notification. Ground Duty (Technical) Branch | Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): Education : Candidates must have passed 12 Class with minimum 50% in Maths and Physics AND Four years degree Engineering/ Technology OR Cleared Sections A and B of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with 60% in disciplines specified by the examination authority. Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical): Candidates must have passed 12 Class with minimum 50% in Maths and Physics AND Degree/integrated post-graduation in Engineering/Technology. Note: Kindly note that Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. CPSS is once in a lifetime test. Candidates who have failed the CPSS/ PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible.

The age limits prescribed for the AFCAT exam are different for different branches.

Note - Final year students can also apply for AFCAT exam given that they have secured 60% marks in aggregate with no present backlog and must be able to provide provisional or original degree certificate before commencing the training. AFCAT 2 2021 appearing candidates required to submit proof of passing the degree examination by 30 May 2022.
Candidates should be medically and physically fit to be eligible for the exam.
To apply for AFCAT, the basic criteria for candidate is to be physically and mentally fit. Candidates are advised to get themselves examined medically before filling AFCAT Application Form, so as to avoid rejections at a later stage. Additionally, candidates must be free from any disease or disability.
