What is UGC NET JRF Exam Pattern?

ugc net online coaching Earlier, UGC NET exam was conducted in pen & paper mode and there were three papers. In 2018 ugc revised the exam pattern & announced that there will be only two papers (paper I & paper II). In 2019, NTA revised the ugc net exam pattern again, stipulating that candidates must attempt both Paper 1 and Paper 2 within a single 3 hours timeframe. Until 2018, the papers were conducted separately. Paper I is common for all candidates, it covers topics like teaching & research aptitude, logical reasoning, general awareness and communication technology. Paper II is based on candidate's PG subject.

It must be rememberd that it is compulsory for aspirants to appear for both the papers in order to be eligible for JRF or Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor with admission to Ph.D. or admission to Ph.D. only. Official website of NTA informs, "The questions in paper I will be generic in nature, intending to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate." Regarding paper-II, the website informs, "This will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. All the questions of Paper–II will be compulsory."
